While preparing a message several years back, the LORD took me to Ezekiel 37. As I read verse 2 He prompted me to look up the word “dry” in Strong’s Concordance. I told the Holy Spirit, “I got this, I know what the word dry means.” (Yes, really….I told the Holy Spirit I didn’t need to look up the word? Not too smart on my part, but He was merciful and continued the conversation). He again said to me, “Look up the word dry.” So I did. The word [3002 in Strong’s] meant……dry. So I said, “See I told You I knew what the word meant. He then said to me, look up the root word [3001 in Strong’s]. I sat in wonder as I read the meaning. The word translated dry came from a root word meaning “ashamed, confused or disappointed.” Now that resonated with me, it gave the text a more personal connotation. Now, this valley of very dry bones represented more than just a field filled with the bones of soldiers who had died there. It represented the battles I had lost, or was losing, leaving me with feelings of shame, confusion or disappointment.
You know the rest of the story, the LORD asked the prophet, “Can these bones live?” The prophet answered, “O Lord YHVH, you know.” I don’t know if my situation or life can be resurrected – it looks dead to me. But, Lord YHVH, You know. And the Lord did in fact bring all the bones together, put flesh on the bones and breathed life into the army.
